Frederique Constant Debuts Limited Edition Perpetual Calendar with Burgundy Dial
Frederique Constant has unveiled a new, exclusive iteration of its Manufacture Classic Perpetual Calendar, distinguished by a rich burgundy dial. This particular model, which is restricted to a production of just 100 pieces, follows the introduction of a redesigned movement, the FC-776, approximately eighteen months prior. The Perpetual Calendar series from Frederique Constant has consistently been recognized for providing an accessible yet sophisticated mechanical perpetual calendar on the market, and this burgundy variant offers collectors an appealing limited edition choice.
The timepiece is presented in a polished stainless steel casing, measuring 40mm in diameter and 12.25mm in thickness. It is equipped with an anti-reflective, convex sapphire crystal and boasts a water resistance of 50 meters. The case back is meticulously engraved with each watch's unique edition number. The sunray-finished dial transitions from deep wine hues to brilliant reflections, featuring a 'Côtes de Genève' pattern on its subdials. Key functionalities displayed on the dial include the day at 9 o'clock, date at 3 o'clock, and month and leap year indications at 12 o'clock. A moon phase display, set against a deep blue background adorned with laser-engraved stars, resides at 6 o'clock. The dial's refined appearance is further enhanced by a 'chemin de fer' minute track, applied faceted hour markers, polished hands, and an elegant fluted onion crown.
Accompanying the watch is a black alligator strap secured with a folding buckle, along with an additional burgundy alligator strap that features an easy-open deployment clasp, offering versatility in style. This limited edition is priced at $12,995 and is currently available. The inclusion of a matching burgundy strap is a thoughtful touch, providing owners with an immediate alternative look. This release marks the sixth version of the reimagined perpetual calendar in roughly a year and a half, underscoring Frederique Constant's commitment to expanding this collection. Unlike a previous 18k yellow gold limited edition priced significantly higher at $38,000, this burgundy steel model remains aligned with the standard line's price point, allowing collectors to acquire a rare piece without the added expense of a gold case.
The introduction of such a visually distinct and limited edition timepiece reflects Frederique Constant's dedication to innovation and meeting the desires of discerning collectors. It highlights the brand's ability to combine traditional horological complications with modern aesthetic choices, ensuring that mechanical watchmaking remains vibrant and accessible. This approach not only enriches the brand's offerings but also celebrates the artistry and precision inherent in fine watchmaking, making luxury timepieces more attainable and appreciated by a broader audience.
