Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils a More Compact 40mm Polaris Date
Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces a more refined dimension to its Polaris Date collection. This new 40mm model addresses feedback regarding the previous 42mm versions, presenting a more accommodating design for a broader range of wrists.
The updated 40mm steel case is not merely smaller in diameter but also boasts a sleeker profile, measuring 12.9mm in thickness, a noticeable reduction from its 13.92mm predecessor. While still a robust sports watch, this slimming, combined with a thoughtfully designed lug profile, significantly enhances its wearability. The dial retains the characteristic lacquered fumé blue with its sunray-brushed center, snailed minutes track, and grained outer section. Crucially, the brand's logo has been repositioned to the center of the brushed section for improved visual harmony, and the term "Automatique" has been removed, streamlining the overall aesthetic. These subtle yet impactful changes contribute to a more balanced and elegant presentation, setting a new standard for the Polaris lineup.
Driving this new timepiece is the in-house Caliber 899, a modern automatic movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a substantial 70-hour power reserve. While the 40mm Polaris Date is exclusively offered with a blue canvas strap, retailing at $10,400, its meticulous design improvements and enhanced wearability make it a compelling choice for watch enthusiasts. It embodies a commitment to precision and elegance, demonstrating that even minor adjustments can profoundly elevate a classic design.
