A prime example is the classic hand-wound Tangente, which has maintained its modest 35mm diameter since its debut in 1992. The Tetra series, with its unique square geometry, inherently demands a thoughtful approach to sizing, given that a square watch of equivalent width offers a larger visual footprint than its round counterpart. Traditionally, Tetra models have hovered around the 30mm mark, with larger versions like the Tetra Neomatik at 33mm still presenting a comfortable and prominent fit on the wrist. Now, Nomos expands its smallest square watch collection, the Tetra 27, with two captivating versions.

The first, the Tetra 27 white, embodies Nomos' quintessential aesthetic. Its dial features a silver-plated, galvanized finish, adorned with Arabic numerals and markers reminiscent of the iconic Tangente, complemented by blued steel hands and a small seconds counter. This new 27mm iteration distinguishes itself from the earlier 29.5mm hand-wound Tetra by incorporating a flat, circular small seconds sub-dial instead of a recessed square one.

The second model, the Tetra 27 duo, offers a minimalist two-hand display while introducing greater visual depth to its galvanized dial. A subtle light grey square at its center is framed by a matching grey field for the minute track, creating a sophisticated two-tone effect. At the heart of both new Tetra 27 models beats the hand-wound Calibre DUW 4001. This movement represents a significant evolution of the classic Alpha caliber, itself an upgraded in-house version derived from the Peseux 7001. The DUW 4001 boasts entirely redesigned bridges (a ¾ plate), exquisite decoration including Glashütte ribbing, perlage, a double-sunburst ratchet wheel, and blued screws. It also features an in-house escapement with a blue balance spring, a stop-seconds function (on the Tetra 27 white), and an extended power reserve of 53 hours.

These new additions, presented on a black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap, are seamlessly integrated into Nomos' permanent collection. The Tetra 27 duo with a steel back is priced at EUR 1,660, while the Tetra 27 white with a sapphire back is available for EUR 2,120.
