Renaud Tixier Unveils the Monday Skeleton: A Masterpiece of Horological Artistry

October 20

Renaud Tixier proudly presents the Monday Skeleton, an exquisite evolution of its inaugural Monday timepiece. This new iteration, available in limited editions of green and blue, features a 40.8mm gray gold case and meticulously showcases the intricate RVI2025 micro-rotor movement. It represents a harmonious blend of visionary movement design by Dominique Renaud and the unparalleled hand-finishing expertise of Julien Tixier, offering a deeper look into the mechanical artistry that defines the brand.

The original Renaud Tixier Monday, first introduced in 2024, aimed to redefine micro-rotor technology. While previous versions focused on dial aesthetics, the Monday Skeleton transcends these by unveiling the movement’s entire mechanical structure. Its RVI2025 caliber, composed of 262 components, features a patented winding system designed for enhanced efficiency. This openworked design not only highlights the innovative mechanics but also serves as a canvas for the brand’s commitment to superior hand-finishing.

Dominique Renaud's four decades of watchmaking experience, including a specialization in skeletonization, perfectly complement Julien Tixier's mastery of traditional finishing techniques. Together, their combined talents have brought the Monday Skeleton to life. The RVI2025 movement builds upon the architecture of the previous RVI2023 caliber, which already hinted at its potential for openworking. The new design pushes these boundaries, creating a visually stunning display of the watch's internal mechanisms without compromising the integrity of its complex, mechanically enhanced micro-rotor system.

Every single one of the 262 components within the RVI2025 caliber is individually finished and decorated by hand at Renaud Tixier's workshops in Tolochenaz, Switzerland. The finishing techniques employed are a testament to traditional horological craftsmanship, including Côtes de Genève, delicate sunray patterns, circular graining, precise bridge rounding, meticulous beveling, and an exquisite black polishing. A remarkable feature is the inclusion of 238 inward angles, each painstakingly finished by hand, showcasing a level of detail that elevates the Monday Skeleton beyond conventional timepieces. This intricate openworking also provides an unobstructed view of the patented winding system, a platinum micro-rotor with a flywheel and propulsion spring, designed to harness energy efficiently from even the slightest wrist movements.

The Monday Skeleton is housed in an elegant 40.8mm case crafted from 18K gray gold. With a svelte 12.6mm profile, the case is further adorned with exquisite hand-engraving on its flanks and between the lugs, demonstrating a meticulous attention to detail. It offers a water resistance of 30 meters, combining robustness with refined aesthetics. The dial's design maintains a consistent layout across both the blue and green variations, with color being the primary differentiator. Each model features a small-seconds counter and a matching rehaut in its respective hue. The skeletonized dauphine hour and minute hands, showcasing both polished and satin-finished surfaces, point to faceted and applied indexes on the lower rehaut level, while a crisp white minute track runs along the upper perimeter. Completing the luxurious ensemble is a hand-stitched full-grain alligator strap, precisely matched to the dial accents, fastened with an 18K white gold pin buckle.
